More than forty Greenwich members, both young and old, took to Baker Field in what’s become an annual tradition: Greenwich Derby Day.
The Ladies Rovers, seeking to secure their place in the playoffs took on the Ramblers who are currently enjoying their most successful league season in history. A closely fought contest saw the teams deadlocked at 1-1 going into halftime but the Rovers pounced early in the second period, led by two goals from forward Jax Kataneksza, eventually securing a 4-1 victory.
The later game saw the Men’s 1s take on the Men’s 2s, with both teams coming off the back of games the day before. The game was competitive throughout but fitness levels eventually told with the 1s running out 5-1 winners, with two goals for midfielder Will Jones. Special mention to Allison Behringer and Nicola Black, stepping in to help out the Men’s 1s despite playing earlier in the day. The pair were dangerous throughout combining well down the right wing.
